Change of Address/Telephone Number: If you change your address or phone number, please notify the DA's Office so you may be kept informed of the case status.
Subpoena: If you are needed for a court appearance you will receive a subpoena. If your subpoena is not stamped "on-call", come to the Rockdale County Courthouse at the time indicated. If you have any questions, call the District Attorney's Office.
"On-Call" Subpoena: Your subpoena may indicate that you are "on-call" and your presence may not be required. Call the District Attorney's Office and leave a phone number where you can be reached in case you are needed during trial week. You do not have to come to the courthouse unless someone from the District Attorney's Office calls you.
Be Prepared: Review the case in your mind. It may help to picture the scene in your head so that you can recall it more accurately on the stand.
Look Your Best: Dress neatly and conservatively, as if you were going to church. Shorts and tank tops are not allowed in the courtroom. No gum.
Be Prepared to Wait: You may want to bring something to read.
Be on Your Best Behavior: Often times witnesses are judged by their behavior, both in and out of the courtroom. Stay calm and be polite; avoid arguing with the defense attorney or the Judge.
Listen Carefully: Be sure you understand the question before you answer, and then answer only what is asked. If you do not understand the question, say so; if you do not know the answer, do not guess.
