In 2003, a House Bill (HB285) amended the Georgia Erosion and Sediment Control Act of 1975. These amendments included a groundbreaking mandatory certification program for all individuals involved in land disturbing activities in Georgia.
This program, which is specific to the needs of Georgia, includes various levels of certification as well as a Trainer Program to certify third parties to offer certification courses throughout the state. In order to obtain a land disturbance permit in Rockdale County, developers and contractors must attend a mandatory course on Erosion and Sediment Control.
To learn more about the course and requirements, to obtain a copy of the Manual for Erosion and Sediment Control in Georgia (Green Book), or for details on requirements, please visit: www.gaswcc.org.
