put a shed on my property?

Any additional buildings on a lot require a permit for an accessory structure and must meet zoning and setback requirements.

The property owner must submit a building permit application.  Property owners will also be required to show a site plan of where the building will be located and the dimensions of the building.  If the property is in Watershed Protection (WP) zoning, an engineered site plan is required.

The size of building allowed depends on the zoning of the property.  Accessory structure setbacks vary depending on the zoning, but are a minimum of 10 feet from all property lines.  Any structure that will be used for animals must be at least 200 feet from all property lines.  The structure may not project beyond the front of the principal structure.

Other requirements will need to be met, and the property owner should contact Public Services and Engineering for specific requirements for the zoning district the property is located.

Setback requirements for various zoning districts are described in Rockdale County Code Sections, Chapter 130.
