Firefighter Training

To become a Rockdale County Firefighter, applicants must be at least 18 years of age, possess a high school diploma or GED and pass a written and physical fitness test.

      • Don protective clothing
      • Proper knot tying
      • Rope skills
      • Ladder skills
      • Hose testing and skills
    • Communications
    • Fire Ground Operations
      • Skills with breathing apparatus
      • Fire ground operations
      • Advanced ladder skills for fire ground operations
      • Extinguishing fires/Controlling fires
      • Search and rescue
      • Ventilation
      • Prevention, preparedness, and maintenance
      • Organizational skills

Rockdale County Firefighters attend continuing education courses throughout the year.  Firefighters must have 24 hours of approved, instructor lead testing, and must meet published competencies which are set by Firefighters Standards and Training.
