The Public Works Division is responsible for the maintenance and repair of county-owned streets and sidewalks, as well as all buildings, grounds and facilities, including parks and recreational facilities.
Road and Bridge Maintenance: The Department of Transportation is responsible for all road and bridge maintenance on County roads. This includes pothole patching, shoulder repairs and maintenance of unpaved roads.
Unpaved Roads: The County scrapes, places gravel and maintains drainage systems on all unpaved County roads. Private drives are the responsibility of the property owner.
Drainage Improvements: The drainage crews repair and maintain storm drain systems within the County. This includes repair, replacement, installation of storm drain pipe, drainage structures, and maintenance of drainage ditches along the rights-of-way (ROW) in conjunction with the Stormwater Utility.
For concerns along State roadways, contact the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) at www.dot.state.ga.us. Any issues within the Conyers city limits should be addressed to the City of Conyers Department of Public Works and Transportation at www.conyersga.com.
The division also handles all rights-of-way mowing on County roads. Mowing crews begin cutting County rights-of-way in the spring and spend two weeks per zone. This schedule continues through the fall.
The division removes dead deer, trees and limbs in the roadway or along the rights-of-way on County roads only.
