The department also manages and oversees the construction of road improvement projects such as intersection improvements, signalization, bridge maintenance and reconstruction, and road widening projects. Signalized Intersection improvement projects which were recently completed include the following locations: Iris Drive & McDaniel Mill Road, Pleasant Hill & Lenora Church Road and Old Salem & McCalla Road. The current active construction projects include the widening of Parker Road between Culpepper Drive and Flat Shoals Road and the bridge replacement project on Irwin Bridge Road over the Yellow River.
